Getting the Most from Your
HomilyStarters^© Homily!

     Our teaching homilies are downloadable as Word documents,
so you can edit them and make them your own!

How to Download the Homily

    1. Go to your "My Documents" folder; and, putting your cursor in the middle of the list of documents, right click and go to "new" and then "folder."

    2.  In the blank space, type “HomilyStarters.”  You now have a folder for your HomilyStarters^©.

Step Two: Process Your Order

    1.  Go to the HomilyStarters^© Cycle C format tab, the Cycle A format tab, or the Special Homilies tab.  Choose the homily you need.

 
     2.  To download, click on Speaking Format or Reading Format in the last column.  You will be taken to our "Quick Shopping Cart," where you can preview the homily content and then click “Add to Cart."

     3.  Choose  “Continue Shopping” to order more HomilyStarters.

Step Three:  Enjoy Using the Homily!

    1. Click on the homily you have purchased (it will open up your word processing program and the homily).

   2.  On the word processing drop-down file menu (top left), click on "Save As." 

    3. Click on the file you have made to keep homilies: Homily Starters.  The Scripture reference for your homily should be in the box.  Click "Save."  Now your homily is ready for your editing, or using "as is."

   4.  After you have edited the homily just the way you want it, you can place it in a 3-ring notebook.  Start with page 1 on the right side; turn page 2 over and staple it to page 1.    Then place the front and back page into your notebook.  Go on and staple the front of page 3 to the back of page 4, and so forth.  When you get finished, you will have a book, with homily on both sides of every page.

Speaking-Format Enhancements  
    
    HomilyStarters^© are double spaced for ease of use.  Also, to make the points clear and defined, we use what we call "enhancements."  The primary enhancements used are these:

• Font size - 14, 16, 20
• Underlining - word only
• Small caps feature
• Bold
• Italics
• Beginning and end quotation marks
• Ellipses
• Parentheses
• Phrases such as  pause, or slowly.  Like dynamics marking in music, these help you make your delivery effective, and can be especially helpful when you are "practicing" your homily.

    You can use your word processing program to change or delete these marks, or to change or eliminate paragraphs or other references altogether.
